Salaam All...slow down...go outside and gaze upon the night sky. This is the 5th night of God's Special Mercy in the month of Ramadan. Contemplate upon MERCY.
With govts & social services worldwide spending billions in cash (as if all problems can be solved by cash alone) on the collapsing of families (divorces, juvenile delinquency etc) it pays to turn our vision to something that has great value (or the greatest value)...Divine Words.
Many Muslim parents teach their children this amazing priceless verse in the Quran: "And your Lord has decreed that you do not worship anyone except Him. And to parents, give good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age, say not to them so much as 'uff' [an expression of irritation or disapproval] and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say: 'My Lord! Have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small." [Quran 17:23-24]
Go ahead...right now...whisper that supplication..."Have mercy upon them..." Your lips will thank you for using them in the best way. Then go and throw your hands around your parents and do what comes naturally. Such an act of mercy will save this world.
