Ramadan has begun tonight which means that God's special mercy has begun streaming down upon those who are aware.
For those who do not know the significance of Ramadan it can be explained like this:
The first 10 nights are God's Special Mercy
The second 10 nights are God's Special Forgiveness
The third 10 nights God shows His Special Compassion by Freeing us from Hell
All 30 days from dawn (4:25am) to dusk (6:15pm) one fasts...no food, no drink, no marital relation, no lies, no anger...you got the drift. It's all about becoming conscious of God and reforming one's character.
To put it another way: The Muslim empties the stomach of all material things to fill the soul with peace and blessings; to fill the heart with love and sympathy; to fill the spirit with piety and faith; and to fill the mind with wisdom and resolution.
It's so simple but dazzling...the crescent appeared in the western sky and BANG it's Ramadan. One's heart is filled with elation. Spiritual joy consumes us...we gathered at the mosque tonight for special prayers and will do so for next 30 nights. On this earth over 1 billion people obeying GOD will follow commands to make them better people. No political force can have such impact. Pity the politicians who believe with their inflated egos that they have "power." Power belongs only to God.
We do not have 3 months of songs on radio & TV & ads to buy stuff giving us the illusion of religiosity. It's serious business when it comes to our souls...and 30 days of intense spiritual training helps to guide us for the rest of the year.
